We Found A New Track

We spent about a week trying to find a new track and then Georgina came to one of our lessons with a track she had found. It's a song by Two Door Cinema Club a new band who have not really become big yet. The track is called I Can Talk.

Finding A New Track

We were all trying to find a new track for our video but we were all finding it really difficult. We were looking at different genres of music we thought POP was too up beat and happy and ROCK was too heavy. We were looking for a track which was up beat in parts so we could have fast cuts but the lyrics also had to go with the our story line.

First Idea Proposal

When we discussed this inital idea with Mrs McLuckie she thought it was too linear because the girl gets up, eats breakfast, brushes her teeth, puts her make-up on, gets an invitation to a party and so on. Once she said this we all realised she was right and we needed to make it more strange and different, as we already at the clown mask idea we just needed to push it further.

Mrs McLuckie also listened to the track we wanted to use and she said that it dosen't fit with the story. We all then realised that it was to sexy and it sounded like a track that could be used in a James Bond film.

We still wanted to keep the storyline and so next lesson we will try to find a new track.

First Meeting

On our first meeting Georgina already had an idea of what we could do.

She had this idea about a girl feeling different and so she does everyday things but with a clown mask on. There are shots of her doing her everyday things like waking up, eating breakfast, brushing her teeth and so on but in all of the shots she is wearing the clown mask. The next day the girl wakes up and finds a party invitation on her bed side table and she goes to the party and people are laughing at her. A gang of people then drag her outside and begin to beat her up and try to pull her mask off. Someone comes along and offers her a hand, it is a boy with a clown mask on. The two of them walk of in to the sunset together because they have found their sole mate.

Kelsey, Rahkee and I all really liked this idea and once Georgina had finished telling us her idea we were all suggesting ideas for what else we could added to the video like different situations and different camera angles. We also started thinking about locations that we needed to find - a bedroom and a party.

The first song we thought might go with this story was Muse - Feeling Good.

In the next lesson we will ask Mrs McLuckie what she thinks of the idea.

The Group

Our group is made up of me, Georgina, Rakhee, Kelsey. We all decided to work together because we are all friends and work well together. We all have different talents which means we will all be able to help each other in different parts of the coursework to make it the best we can.

Brief

This year for our A2 Media coursework, G324 module, we had 6 briefs to choose from my group and I decided to choose brief 1 which is:

A promotion package for the release of an album, to include a music promo video together with two of the following:

• a website homepage for the band
• a cover for its release as part of the digipak (CD/DVD package)
• a magazine advertisement for the digipak (CD/DVD package)

We chose this brief because it was the one that interested us the most and the one we thought would be the best to show of our media talents.

We have chosen to do the website and the album cover as well as the music video because we thought they would be the most fun to do and last year we did work on music magazines so we wanted to try something none of us had ever done before.
